Sanlorenzo presented its new SL94 series at the Yacht Club de Monaco on the penultimate evening of the Monaco Yacht Show. The yacht arrived just in time to be the star of the show put on by the Italian yard, and guests were treated to a first viewing.
The SL94 is inspired by the successful SL104 series, which marked an evolution in the Sanlorenzo style. Like her bigger sister, the SL94 has large windows and portholes bringing in a lot of natural light, and a contemporary profile. Designed by Francesco Paszkowski and the in-house team, the 28.6m motor yacht was built in composite at the group’s Ameglia shipyard. Special features include a flybridge (with an optional hardtop), which is free of a tender thanks to the large stern garage.
This first yacht has a modern interior designed by Francesco Paszkowski. Her layout accommodates eight guests on the lower deck in a master suite, VIP and two twin cabins. The full-beam master is open plan, giving a very roomy feeling for a yacht of this size. Crew quarters for four are large, and together with the galley and mess are located on the main deck with direct access outside.
In the engine room, two options are possible: two 1,415kW Caterpillar C-32 Acerts giving a top speed of 27 knots and cruising speed of 25 knots, or twin 1,630kW MTU 16V 2000M92s with performances between 26 and 29 knots.

Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo outlines its intentions for one of troubled Baglietto’s three production sites
Sanlorenzo has confirmed its interest in fellow Italian superyacht builder Baglietto by outlining an offer to acquire part of the bankrupt shipyard’s facilities.
Managing director of Sanlorenzo, Massimo Perotti, has sent a letter to the mayor of La Spezia describing Sanlorenzo’s intention to acquire the Baglietto shipyard in the town.
He has told La Spezia’s mayor that Sanlorenzo would be ready to discuss the details of an offer after the end of October. Baglietto’s La Spezia site is located “15 minutes away” from established Sanlorenzo facilities in Ameglia.
The asking price for the Baglietto group as a whole is reportedly €42m. Perotti says it is “difficult” to imagine someone taking on all three shipyards together.
Perotti revealed details of the letter during the presentation of the SL94 at the Monaco Yacht Show last week. The move comes after Sanlorenzo released financials for 2010 showing that turnover had grown to €196m and the announcement of a €30m capital increase through Fondo Italiano di Investimento.
The Baglietto Group entered voluntary bankruptcy in March 2010 and has been seeking a new owner since.
The standard is set with Sanlorenzos flagship, the 46m steel.

The Italian yacht-builder saw turnover rise by 8.3 per cent last year to €196m.
Italian superyacht builder Sanlorenzo has reported sales of €196m in 2010, an 8.3 per cent rise over the €181m that was generated during the previous year and a drop of just 1.0 per cent compared to pre-crisis sales in 2008. EBITDA was down by 1.7 per cent to €17.2m.
Sanlorenzo delivered 28 new yachts in 2010 — 19 planing motoryachts from the yard’s Ameglia division and nine planing, semi-displacement, composite and metal motoryachts from its Viareggio division.
The company also placed third in Showboats International's 2010 Global Order Book, a list of yacht builders building yachts of 24m (80ft) or more. It achieved this listing by building 38 hulls with a total length of 1,245m (4,085ft).
Sanlorenzo’s growth in 2010 comes on the back of a relatively strong 2009, when turnover fell by just nine per cent to €181m and EBITDA was strong at €17m. Unlike other yards, Sanlorenzo refused to embark on an aggressive discount policy, relying instead on the strength of its brand.
Lower profits in 2009 were attributed to the depreciation of trade-in boats, which was internationally estimated between 20-25 per cent, says the group.
