Sanlorenzo launches superyacht SL94

News now in of the ninth launch from the yard so far this year as Sanlorenzo saw its latest build, the 28.6m motor yacht SL94, hit the water yesterday, August 30th.


Inspired by the successful SL104 series which introduced an evolution in the Sanlorenzo style, the SL 94 has large windows and portholes bringing natural light inside and has contemporary lines to her silhouette. Designed by Francesco Paszkowski and the in-house team, this 28.60m motor yacht was built in composite at the Ameglia shipyard of the group. Special features include a flybridge (with hardtop as an option) that’s free of a tender thanks to the presence of a large stern tender garage.

The SL94 has a modern interior designed by Francesco Paszkowski with a layout accommodating eight guests on the lower deck in a full-beam open plan master suite, a VIP stateroom and two twin cabins.

In the engine room, two options are possible, two 1,415kW Caterpillar C-32 Acert engines giving a top speed of 27 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots, or twin 1,630kW MTU 16V 2000M92 with performances between 26 and 29 knots.

The concept for the SL72 layout envisioned by interior designer, Marty A. Lowe, was to create a Zen-like casual atmosphere to celebrate the serenity of life on the water. Particular attention was given to creating an open, barrier-free living area utilizing the available space to its greatest advantage. The salon is a “put your feet up” area adjacent to an open upper level dining/lounge area. The galley is open and accessible to the entire main salon or can be closed off by raising a unique privacy window. The overall combined space was designed to graciously accommodate a large family or multiple guests in a casually elegant environment.

The décor of the SL72 captures the tranquil simplicity of the sea, including an artful mix of chic and rustic elements and endless neutral shades capturing the many hues of bright sandy beaches. Tactile and textured linen area rugs, supple saddle stitched leathers and soft supple linens are juxtaposed with unique contemporary elements which are offered only on this truly custom yacht. Cabinet fronts that have been fabricated with a chic treatment of back painted glass layered with a fabric and suede-finished bleached teak are examples of the luxurious finishes illustrating the remarkable craftsmanship of the Sanlorenzo yacht. The light, natural color of the distinctive teak wood has been specially treated with a waterproof finish and the lacquered glass provides unusual depth and character. Bulkheads and window wells are leather wrapped and/or lacquer finished without any of the standard vinyl coverings customarily seen on production yachts. The ultra comfortable salon sofa with goose down cushions has been upholstered with removable slipcovers from the highest quality stonewashed Belgian linen to enhance the natural casualness and propensity to wrinkle. The furniture, which has been meticulously tailored in a calming neutral palette offers comfort, practicality and elegance. Dressing the berths in each stateroom in classic simplicity, the washed linen bedding is pure luxury. Loomed from the world’s finest 100% Belgian flax, the naturally soft linen is washed to enhance its feel and relaxed look and offers the ultimate in sleeping comfort. Cabinet joinery and stonework throughout is deliberately simple and precise, yet classic in detail. The stonework features accents of linear carving which brings back the beauty of ancient time worn stones. The counters in the galley are from sandstone which is characterized by dark and dramatic shades of taupe. Exterior spaces created to dine, sunbathe and converse are celebrated on the SL72. An enlarged flybridge,made possible by relocating the tender to the aft swim platform, creates an exterior space that is perfectly suited to entertaining and enjoying the fresh air.

Throughout the yacht, the soft, neutral palette and carefully chosen appointments are reminiscent of, and inspired by, the celebrated spirit of the sea.

Images of black sandy beaches, rocky coastlines and the iridescent hues of sea shells were the inspiration for the décor of this yacht by designer, Marty Lowe. Envisioned in a graphic palette of black and creamy white, this tranquil collection embraces the streamlined modernism of the Sanlorenzo yacht. The contemporary lines of the yacht have been lightened with textural, natural materials and an organic sensibility in the edited, refined signature style of the designer as evidenced in the unique choices of resources used throughout the yacht. Particular attention has been given to the relationship of the spaces and the interplay of illusions creating an interesting drama as one moves through the yacht. Exotic, tactile materials such as hand carved wenge and bleached anigre woods, are contrasted with the sleekness and reflective properties of bronzed glass, stainless steel and bronzed mirror. Fossilized marbles have been carved to complement the rustic beauty of natural, time worn stones and supple leathers are used as a design element creating yet another layer of tactile interest.


The dual use lounge/dining area in the salon has been designed to address the trend of informal dining while careful consideration has been given to make the fly bridge dining a completely comfortable and incredible experience while overlooking the sea or marina. Dressing each berth of the staterooms in layers of incredible luxury is evidenced in the bedding and linens and offers the ultimate in sleeping comfort. The removable slipcovers for the salon lounges are made from a pure Belgian linen that has been washed to enhance its natural softness and suppleness which respects the overall casualness and propensity to wrinkle. The comfort of goose down cushions further emphasizes the designer’s goal to offer a casual, yet luxurious environment on the water. Exterior spaces have been defined by separate zones envisioned as unique entertaining opportunities. Basket woven modular furniture in graphic shades of smoke with ample white cushions comprises these zones. The aft deck was designed to be a “put your feet up” area for cocktails, après dinner, or breakfast coffee with a surprising and whimsical element added in the cocktail cubes. Sunbathing, relaxing, grilling, cocktails or watching a football game were considered in the well thought out layout of the fly bridge. An integrated galley unit by renowned Italian galley manufacturer, Boffi, is featured as a centerline divider cabinet between the dining area and aft seating zones. The dining area has been made completely comfortable with full air conditioned capacity.

Careful consideration has been given to each detail and each space to deliver the message to relax and enjoy the sea and its serenity.

Sanlorenzo, the prestigious Italian Shipyard focused on the production of motor yachts exclusively tailor-made according to the requirements and style of every single owner, launched in the same day a SL104, of the Sanlorenzo fibreglass planning fleet projected and produced in the Ameglia Division (La Spezia), and a SD92, GRP navettas of 27 meters with semi-displacement hull (SD line) projected and produced in the Viareggio Division.

The SL104 – Triple Fun, with her 31.7 meters length and 7,10 meters beam, represents the fourth hull delivered by Sanlorenzo from the debut of this new model (September 2009) until today. With the SL104, in the unmistakable Sanlorenzo line, matching elegance, balance of volumes, well balanced ratio between empties and full bodies, the Ameglia (La Spezia) shipyard was able to concentrate an extraordinary number of innovations, without knocking in any way the consistent family feeling of the Sanlorenzo planning fleet.

The SD92 – Genie 2, with her 27 meters length and 7,15 meters beam, represents the fifteenth SD92 hull delivered by Sanlorenzo from the debut of this new model (September 2007) until today. The Sanlorenzo navettas, elegant and technologically advanced, stand out in unequivocal way in the yachting world for their layout, which are able to perfectly combine modern lines perfectly with evocative forms, recalling the great transatlantic liners of the 30s.

An unmistakable style and a refined design place the Sanlorenzo yachts to the highest level of the international production, where the Italian Shipyard, in more than 50 years of history, became the synonymous of excellence in terms of quality and attention to details, typical features of the craftsmanship production.

Sanlorenzo shipyards were established in Viareggio in 1958 and up to 1985 the production consisted of semi-custom boats totally wooden-made. In 1985, the first Sanlorenzo fibreglass flying bridge was born, the SL57. In 1999 the company moved to Ameglia into a natural park area (Sanlorenzo is certified “UNI EN ISO 14001” which guarantees the utmost respect for the environment). The lines of the Sanlorenzo fleet have always been extremely classic, never aging.

In April 2005, Massimo Perotti took over from Giovanni Jannetti the shipyards that become Sanlorenzo Spa.

Massimo Perotti, after bringing to completion many of the most original and successful products of the sector, decides to leave the industry figures where he had built his background to join a tradition of absolute perfection and small production numbers. The Sanlorenzo philosophy remains focused on ”‘customization and total dedication to the customer, top notch quality and personal relationships”.

Today Sanlorenzo is based on two divisions: the Ameglia Division, for the production of fibreglass motor yachts ranging between 62 and 108 ft., and the Viareggio Division, for the production of navettas in composite material with semi-displacement hull from 92 to 122 ft. and super yachts in metal (aluminium and steel), from 40 to 50 metres over.
